Cebu to Bacolod Via Mabinay-Kabankalan city

14 June 2011. Cebu City.

Off for Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, I went to the Cebu North Bus Terminal in Mandaue city to catch the usual Ceres Bus to Bacolod via Mabinay-Kabankalan City .

6:00 AM, I was at the North Terminal.  Surprised, I couldn’t  find the Ceres Bus among those in line loading for their respective trips.  I approached a blue-collared-shirt-bus-conductor to ask but he doesn’t have a clue (what?).  I tried asking the guard sitting on the dispatcher table but without saying a word, he merely pointed his finger (perhaps for a change … it was not his lips) to a wall on which a white bond paper was posted with computerized writings unreadable with my 20-20 vision from a 5 feet distance. approaching, I immediately assumed it is a notice of a sort.  Somehow, I got a feeling.

True enough, I was informed – the usual “last trip” Ceres Bus for Bacolod-via-Mabinay-Kabankalan City was already transferred to the Cebu South Bus Terminal since 01 June 2011!  … and I only got 30 minutes left before that bus leaves the terminal.  So off I went.  Hurriedly walked to the entrance gate … yes, the “entrance gate” for my “exit” to catch a taxi … I was a time catcher and the guard at the entrance didn’t mind either.  He’s sipping his cup to coffee anyway.

I must be blessed, a taxi popped up in an instant!  And off we go with my usual prayer in times like his … Lord please make it happen! Please make way!.

And just in time, I caught my Bus at the SOUTH Terminal. 6:20AM on my watch, the Bus left earlier than I thought.

To all, please take note and tell it around, the 6:30AM last trip to Bacolod City-Via-Mabinay-Kabankalan City is NOW at the SOUTH Bus Terminal … SOUTH not North.

Negros Occidental Tourist Spots: Road Woes: 13 March 2010

Last night, “Lakbay TV” featured the prime places to visit in Negros Occidental. It showcased the culture, historical sites, food, treasures and pleasures of living and visiting Negros Occidental.

The trip jumpstarted in Bacolod City to San Carlos City (via Cadiz City); then from San Carlos City to Bago City (via Don Salvador Benedicto); to Pontevedra up to Hinobaan and Sipalay City.  It was very informative and tickles the travelers foot.  So much has been heard of the usual tourist sites, but indeed, there are still a lot of places and things to enjoy in our home – Philippines.

These beautiful places and rich culture around the region will be better appreciated and attractive ONLY if roads and bridges are improved and paved.

The concerned agencies are noticeably doing road improvements around the region but still, there are areas that need attention.

(A substantial stretch of parts of the national road from San Carlos City to Bacolod City (via Escalante) vise versa, including Bago and Valladolid is “suspension-wrenching-wrecking”).
