“Garra Rufa” Derma

Foot spa … skin spa … garra rufa …

The hot climate and burning pavement are killing the soles of my feet!  … the heels are left dry and dead (i mean, the skin). The soil are cracked, so are my heels …. worst, the dark powdery soil kept its mark.  Vanity isn’t in my vocabulary, but, plunging in a swimming pool or just raising up my foot (while watching a fave show) keep me noticed. 911!

As if the tube had known it, I chanced a regional morning show (yes, just today) about the wonders of this garra rufa fish for dead skin and skin disorders like psoriasis.  And I guess it’s worth a semi-serious (just yet) indulging …. and perhaps, keep a basinful (of the wonder fish) in our backyard for a pa-gusto therapy.  That sounds a nibbleful project for the hot summer into a happy feet.

Much has been heard and said of the garra rufa and the mushrooms of fish-foot spa, particularly in Asia and the nearby regions in the Philippines.  There are fakes, look-a-like and impostor-species they say. So are the warnings of possible transfer of skin infection and necessity of quality sanitation in the facilities.  Nevertheless, the fish spas are on spreading since the 2006.  And a place in Turkey started it all, the web says.

I haven’t heard so far of a facility in Bacolod City (Negros Occidental, Philippines) or Cebu City, neither of an Aqua pet shop supplying the original garra rufa fish (those with no teeth) … i sure need an extended home service.

Garra rufa foot derma? I’m totally in!  Come and nibble my heels and toes!

Organic Products: I chose to be Healthier.

We can be free … we can save the environment … we can be healthier we can be safer … that is by using 100% Organic Products and limiting use of other non-natural chemicals.

The option really belongs to the person … a choice between “disease and cancer-causing non-organic chemicals” and “organic, 100% natural chemicals” … I made a choice … I go for “organic” to the best I can.

I shifted … I choose to TRY the “organic products” … safer, healthier, cheaper, non-irritating, non-hazardous (both to mammals and environment) and EFFECTIVE.

Solid and water waste, foul odor (garbage, urine, septic tank, animal odor), bacterial/fungicidal control, farm and plant fertilizer … not much a problem anymore ….  Organic Products can do the works …

A Pouring Like Ondoy

 

Poor heavens, you’re always to blame when floodings plow the plains;
Gone were the old creeks; Lost to lumbers, the trees that hold the feet;
The Heads saw you coming, at least not in the immediate now, just maybe, not yet.
PAGASA reported; eyes tied to tracks and predicted: It will rain.
Then the rain was a storm and PAGASA scrambled for a name … ONDOY.
Yet it seems PAGASA held on the wind vanes and forgo the telling of the rains.
Heavens is not crying, heavens not even weeping. Heavens is cursing.

So it poured, and poured and poured and poured and …. poured … and p…
The storm seems not to like it’s name … or it’s really not the name it curses against.
The storm unleashed it’s wrath. Ondoy seems enjoying … and lived to become a disaster….
Ah Yes! maybe Ondoy is KSP (kulang sa pansin), and wants to call some attention..
Yes, Ondoy wants to get even and likes some Head’s head turn to him … so they did.
True enough disaster summons all especially the Disaster Council and Development Authority.
It was a test! Ondoy was the examiner, not for the to-be-teachers or to-be-barristers, but Ondoy eyes the wish-masters.

Water everywhere … people scamper…heads got a turner…the test is on… Ondoy is a hell of a teacher.
Most were caught up with no paper; Many lost the pen; Most a crammer including the dean’s listers;
Not a chance for a cheater …. all eyes on the masters, the master’s master and the wishmasters.
Cling anywhere … keep the hunger … hope for no fever … save a moments breath … we will be there, we promise … soon (peks man) the voice all over.

Mobile phones ring a 911 … all were heard and were marked NOTED. Callers … you may cling for now, basta, we will be there …

Mobile phone batteries are dead; so are the people. Thousands with anger and doubtful hope embraced the darkness and cold; crickets snore and retire in the midst of whining, splashing and whipping.

The rescue trucks are blocked on the road. It’s difficult. It’s dangerous. The water is high. The current is strong. It’s wet and muddy. It’s risky. Stranded ones, just cling and hope for life.

Isn’t this the scenario rescuers are trained for? Isn’t this when rescuers are needed for? Isn’t this what the budget is for?

Is it a game of hope and wishes that threat to life of the victim passover, before a daring rescue is set? Good there are those like Zorro (Richard Gutierrez) rescuing Eva (Christine Reyes); or the soldier dying rescuing a 20+ victims; or an 18-year-old saving a few months old child; and the rest of the expectedly un-equipped and untrained and un-budgetted and private citizens. Good enough the flood relented and subsided.

Woe the rest of the victims with councils and masters half-prepared and half-predicting despite the billions and battalions. Worst, all in the heart of the Philippines. Where the best of heads and councils seat.

Ondoy left … Ondoy swears … Ondoy jitters … Ondoy laughs … the test all failed in … masters and wishy-ones didn’t pass the chance. They speak with heads down. The only proud ones are the civilians doing a pouring like Ondoy did with all the relief and helping hands … from the civilian and private citizens hands not from the supposed master’s hands.

Yes, the masters did some BUT never met the expectation from the seats they are in.  It’s a national seat and this day is the only time they are mostly needed. Worst, the disaster happened in the very nose of the seats.   Indeed, disasters reveal and uncover … the waters, the Earth, the heavens and even hell.

Poor Heavens … you are all to blame as they say. Rain is from the heavens, Flood is from the earth. In the meantime, Ondoy, your name is a delisting.
