A(H1N1) Virus at Pandemic Level 6 -W.H.O.

As of 10 June 2009, 74 countries had reported nearly 27,737 cases of swine flu with 141 deaths. A pandemic level.

W.H.O. (World Health Organization) official records of laboratory-confirmed A(H1N1) virus infection indicates a growing number of infection cases reaching pandemic level, including: USA: 13,217 (27 deaths); Mexico 5,717 (106 deaths); Canada 2,446; Chile 1,694 and Australia 1,224 and others.  While recorded cases in Asia includes: China 142; Philippines 54; Korea 48; Singapore 18; Vietnam 15; Thailand 8; Malaysia 5 and others.

W.H.O., in an official statement, says “the pandemic can be characterized globally as moderate in severity.”

The last recorded pandemic was in 1968 – The Hongkong Flu, which killed 1 Million people.

Governments are said to be taking aggressive and continuous efforts against the new flu virus particularly in making available flu-fighting medicines and fast-tracking the development of a vaccine.

While U.S.A. has authorized the release of $1 Billion for developing a vaccine … most are left to covering their noses with cloth … literally … with a million hopes that the virus will fade to die …

(Note: Cebu is still free of A(H1N1) Virus case as of today)
